Osho in one of his discourses narrates this story which tells mankind to look at the lighter side of life!!!

A poor farmer on his death bed called his three sons and gave each one a duck with the instructions that whoever sold their duck for the most would inherit the farm.

The first son sold his duck for 10 $ and the second son sold his duck for 15 $.

The third son was carrying his duck to town when a village girl approached him and offered to make love with him if he gave her the duck. It turned out that they had such a good time together she wanted to give him back the duck if he would make love with her again and the third son agreed to this deal.

The third son was happy as he had a good time twice without losing the duck. He wandered the streets with quixotic feeling and got under the wheels of the car and was forlorn to see his duck dying. The rash driver apologized and gave him a 20 $ note to compensate the loss.

The third son went home with bruises all over the body, seeing him the farmer asked how he had got on…..

He said “I got Fucked for a Duck. I got a duck for a Fuck and 20 $ for a Fucked up Duck!!!!!!!!!

Hahahahahahahaha

Always look at the lighter side of Life and enjoy to its fullest.

- Vijay Raghav Rao

Vijay's List of 100 tracks to listen Before You die

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_wd6AgedUp3I/SR8RZcTh3KI/AAAAAAAAACg/B00C2m5dUq4/s320/vijayraghav+-+orkut.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5268949217839275170" />

Here it goes !!

# Bahut khoobsurat ho – Khoobsurat
# Help! Oooo .. sounds anonymous “ .. … a little gyan about him ….

Muthuswami Dikshithar is a prolific composer. His compositions consist mainly of kirtanas . Besides, there are five ragamalikas, a pada varna and a daru. Dikshitar's compositions are mostly in Sanskrit. A few of them are what are known as Manipravala compositions. The most outstanding feature of his compositions is their rich ragabhava. If a composition is hummed, leaving out the sahitya, it can easily be mistaken for a ragalapana. His kirtanas can be described as ragalapana dressed in sahitya and artistically accommodated in the framework of tala.

And about bach…..

Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer and organist whose sacred and secular works for choir, orchestra, and solo instruments drew together the strands of the Baroque period and brought it to its ultimate maturity.

So kinda got the gyan.. and now back to the sweet little instrumental number ….
You guys should get your ears tuned into this awesome blend of european classical with Indian classical …aaaah ….truly amazing …and guitar… the eternal musical instrument beautifully describes the blend!!

My experience listening to this instrumental number ….

No words …………………. Ring dance where people clasp their hands together and dance to a particular tune, they go round and round and I was there enjoying this beautiful feeling.

Dance has many forms, but ring dance is something special!!! It gives you joy which is joyous joy, joy which is doubled, immense joy, ring dance let’s you dance and also let’s you watch others dancing!! That is why I discovered this word called “joyous joy”. I was there in a state of joyous joy forgetting everything, so as to mention that when you dance you forget everything!!! And when you join hands with others you get the true meaning behind shared happiness .In a ring dance you simply convey the meaning of bliss to others in the circle and share it by clasping hands together!! People involved in the dance are cut away from time, continuity of time is killed and we get into a sweet phase of few minutes which is cut from time, both past and future.

Ring dance – Joyous joy, a feeling which urges you to invent a suitable word to describe the beauty of it!!

Reverberating thoughts about human nature…

“Human” &” relations “– These two words when joined together give rise to many other words born out of it, The first one being “ Love “ and the second one being “friendship” and this again takes many forms and the list is endless………..

Man does many crazy things with these words; he differentiates each word which is born out of human relations, he gives them a name and calls it love and then he frames a word called friendship and quickly draws a line between them and then he applies rules, rules which should be strictly followed to maintain the identity of the word

“Imbroglio” is the word which just smiles at me when I try to dig human relations with my mind, yes it’s true!!!! , human relations are complex!!!!

Love should always be unconditional to maintain its purest form or else it is nothing at all!!!

What does unconditional love mean?? It’s very simple , just enjoying the company without expecting anything in return , just like a dog which enjoys our company without expecting anything in return , it never commands us ,it never tries to read our mind , it never gives advice , all it wants is our company and it enjoys it !!

The more you try to probe love or friendship, the more you test it; you actually take a chunk away from it!!!

“Enjoying the company “sounds easier, more easier as there are no complex calculations or rules applied to it, just like mathematics without algebra!!!

Expectations and demand just gets subdued, it becomes quite when we start enjoying the company. Love is crazy or else it is nothing at all!!! , Love can just happen once, all this hypothesis cannot be proved right!! As man breaks these rules which he has framed and he makes it more complicated and he toils with it. Just don’t think that you have broken the rule by falling in love for the second time, it can just happen and it is quite natural as there are no rules, just enjoy the company and it will give you happiness!!!

The Butterfly Effect

Courtesy: Thoughts and reflections inspired from a novel.

a thousand times over ...

It was a lazy morning in bombay .... 8:09 CST ..it was lazy coz it was a saturday .... with hardly anyone around in the 1st class , i was there flipping pages of a novel ..... Building brand in people’s mind is a difficult job; SBI Mutual Funds has done it again with respect to rewards as the Saga continues …Guess what …..????

In a Study done by Nielsen's Brand Equity Index this year SBI Mutual Fund leads Nielsen's Brand Equity Index followed by Reliance Mutual Fund as the runner up has grown leaps and bounds with respect to attracting customers and growing their investor base and reliance is on an “ Aggressive Strategy” which is also similar in case of ICICI

Mutual Fund Industry is certainly surging ahead ….. and with increasing number of brands , the challenge here is to make sure that the customer remembers a specific brand with lot of brands to choose from……

Sustaining a strong media presence is a prerequisite for any mutual fund ….so for SBIMF it leverages on its Parent Brand “SBI” and this gives SBIMF a strategic advantage and if Innovation is mixed in this combination it would a great treat to the investors investing in SBIMF

You all know as told by Management Gurus, “Marketing “and “Innovation” are the only two words which brings Revenue to a company and rest are all costs!!!!!!

“The Butterfly Effect”

Vijay Raghav

Going the Gartner's way !!!!!!!

A jist... rather a detailed analysis on how IT companies effectively manage intangibles is required in this “services “driven market. “Intangibles “are many but some of them should be given due importance.

On a serious note 6 companies were taken and were categorized as “Global Leaders “, “Indian Challengers “and “Nichers”. Global Leaders were IBM and Accenture and Indian Challengers were TCS, Wipro and Satyam. The aloof nicher was Cap Gemini.

Innovation seems to be the next big thing, but there are some forces which drive innovation … Talent Management, Branding, and Knowledge Management are the Intangible assets which make the word “Innovation” look brighter and bolder.

So let’s wade through some pages which shows how these intangible assets are handled and all the intangible items which cannot be measured are measured and given a new form

So I went the Gartner’s way to show how IT companies effectively manage intangibles in a Matrix form ….. Have a look ….

Mutual Fund of Year 2007

SBIMF sweeps crisil - CNBC Mutual fund award , gets the coveted title of " Mutual Fund of the Year " 2007

click this link to know more..

http://www.moneycontrol.com/mccode/news/article/news_article.php?autono=267358

Butterfly Effect

Vijay raghav

Lot about a lot of things !!!!!

Just waana share some thoughts abt the book "The Mckinsey way" - ...For those who haven't heard "Mckinsey "... This goes for you ..Mckinsey is a strategic consulting firm..They provide solutions to Business Problems

What Makes them sucessful ??????? .....

>> They get associates with analytical bent of Mind ( Creams of Best B schools all over the world)
>> Fresh associates who join Mckinsey start everything based on Facts>> They initially start as generalist and later they come to know a lot about lot of things>> Facts are " Business activities " ...Real life Business Happenings....
>> They collect as much Facts as Possible and structure them to get close to the solution( for an given assignment or a business problem)>> They work on MECE - "Mutually exclusive collectively exhaustive"
>> Everthin in Mckinsey goes with " TLA" three letter acronym>> anythin which they do ..should be a MESE ....( spelt as Mee see)
When you give solutions each solution should be Mutually exclusive ( Not Look alike or a duplicate of it) ...ie each solution should be different and it should solve on single problem....for example Option 1 should be Mutually exclusive to Option 2

>> They do not advertise themselves..... they wait for the call( Companies to call them for help....)
>> They "sell " without selling
>> They have good interviewing skills
>> They always start their problem solving case with an initial Hypothesis ( Different solutions to the problem) and they prove or disprove it

So Learn wht the Best Guns in Business Do and Imitate .......

Butterfly Effect

"World of Extremes"

Retailing is the Buzz word now ...so lets get some Bees to Buzz Over .......

Retailing is all about creating " awesome customer experience " ...Now to do that keep these Points in mind

>> In India Mutual Funds are Percieved as Trust and in USA it is percieved as an Investment Company,

If you buy a stock of an Company You get the ownership of the company, Like wise if you are a Unit Holder You become an Owner of the Fund's asset.

You can Buy the Shares of the company only when the company Issues Shares, and you can sell the shares back to the company only when the company goes for " Share Buybacks" otherwise Buying and sellin of shares can take place between investors through "Stock exchange" if the shares are Listed.

Open End Mutual Fund in which we can buy units from the Fund and also can sell units from the fund continuously

Mutual Funds give units ... so NAV ( Net asset value) can be defined as the ratio of Total asset owned by the mutual fund to the number of units issue by them , that precisely gives the value of an unit . and the value of an Unit( NAV) may appreciate depanding upon the market value of Fund's Asset.

Sorry Guys think it's too much of it lol !!!!

BuTterfly Effect

Looking back in time....

Hey Guys one interesting update abt Astronomy rather ...got a lil deviated these days lol !!!

when u look at sun ur looking back in time coz it takes 8min for te light to reach earth ..and wen astronomers look @ moon ..Guess wat they are lookin back in time for 2 sec ..coz light from moon takes 2 sec to reach earth ... and wen u look @ starts ...ooops then we are lookin back in time millions of years ago

Learning :...hmmm nothin much ...Always look forward in time hehehe :)

ButterFly EffEct

The Differentiator !!!!!!

Hi folks ....

Guys have u come across the Hoardings of Barclays !!!!! Miners had a problem .....They were pissed off coz the pants which they wore didn't even last for a single day ........strauss made a pair of pants out of canvas, these rugged pants later became an instant hit !!!! and made a fashion statement in US ...........( it happ in late 1950) ......hmm the passage of time brought many competitors ( VF corp - Lee, Wrangler, Rustler) ..... ... In 1990 the world had turned upside down for the people who invented the jeans. ......What went wrong ?

They didnt establish their leadership position !!!!!!! levi's took the status of leadership granted and they never exploited it ....... Leadership is the most powerful way to differenciate a brand !!!!..Levi's should have clearly differenciated themselves from the other players in the market .....Coz they invented jeans ...............Compare it with the cola strategy ......

Coco-Cola were Cola innovators........... and they exploited their leadership position by just three words The real thing..... and they had a edge over pepsi because people always want the orginal , the first , and the inventor

Levi's should have done somethin like this to differenciate themselves......

Orginal Levi's
Everthing else is a copy ( courtesy : Jack trout , lay your hands on the book : big brands ...big trouble...)

Learning : Customers go for real one!!!!!!!..... not an imitation of the real one!!!!!!!!!!

The Butterfly effect

vijay raghav

" Temp" ting Future...............

Its HR again ….Workload fluctuations drive us to get a “Temp employee”

In today’s challenging world, firms should be “flexible” enough to achieve goals. But in developing countries the retail structure is fragmented (we have many small retail players in India and China ...No one has a huge chunk of market share )
2) Channel length: Fragmented retail structure leads to extension of channel length …the reason is obvious… as we need wholesalers to sell the products to retailers due to many retailers (Fragmented) in the market place. Sales force cannot be used to sell product to retailers because it tends to be very expensive!!! ..So they go via wholesalers….
3) Channel attribute: In countries like Japan, wholesalers and retailers will not sell competitors product …so launching a new product is very difficult because for the simple reason that they don’t entertain foreign products!!

Learning: when you want to go places… if it is a developing country, go for a lengthy channel...As product has to go through wholesaler, retailer and then the end customer…as distributing products through salesman is expensive!!!
And if you operate in developed countries...You don’t need wholesalers and the channel length is small as they are concentrated!!

The Butterfly Effect

Vijay raghav.

Getting into the Nerves......

Hi Guys ....The topic is “innovation".................

Welcome to a world of Open innovation!!!!! …………
Boston consulting Group came out with 'top 10' innovative companies adjudged for the year 2006......While going through the list of 10 innovative companies, I found an entrant which my eyes could not believe... But my brain would surely do ...Yup its Starbucks coffee (9th position)

Can a coffee shop be innovative?? …. They were indeed innovative for the simple reason of “Getting into the customers head” The chairman of Starbucks perceives the 8000 store chain as a “third place “to hang out besides home and work!!!!

The wireless network (Wi-fi) was a new initiative adopted by the Seattle –based company …. What’s the big deal? Would be your next question …. The revenue which they get out of this service is pretty tricky…. People using the service stay nine times longer than the usual five minutes ….And they follow this simple strategy ...” the more they stay...The more they buy from us”

Check what Anne Saunders, Starbucks' senior vice-president of marketing has to say “If we'd only thought of ourselves as a coffee company, we wouldn't have done this?

They are also planning to launch “Music coffeehouses” featuring dozens of listening stations…… where people can make their custom CD of their choice from millions of song available ….

“Disciplined innovation “makes them stand out ….they also give prepaid cards and customers have the facility to pre-order and pre-pay for beverages via phone or even on the star bucks website.

Learning: So what’s the big deal about “Innovation?” …..? With Starbucks the word “innovation” is placed next to “effortlessness, Hope it’s a good read!!!!!

http://www.starbucks.com/

“The butterfly effect”

Vijay raghav

My experiment with the " Future".......

The Global competitiveness report 2006 saw India racing well ahead of the other “BRIC Nations”. India was well ahead (43rd Rank) when compared with the rankings of the other BRIC nations namely Brazil Russia and China. India scored 4.44 overall in the index in which the top ranking Switzerland got 5.81 in the study covering 125 nations. About 90 variables are organized into nine pillars with each pillar representing an area considered as an important determinant of competitiveness.

The Pillars of strength for India took various forms such as Business sophistication market efficiency and Innovation. The foundation of the pillar was strong but it was shaken a little bit to form “cracks” like corruption and to fill in these cracks we need cement in form of “Privatization”. Government controlled spheres are filled with corruption and structural hierarchy of the government makes it more worse. India starts debating towards the concept of “privatization” and as you know the debate never ends.

A voice rises from the government sector against privatization and it speaks rather shouts to tell that private firms thrive hard to do “Profit maximization” well my immediate reaction would be to speak rather shout back about corporate governance and Corporate Social responsibility. Corporate social responsibility is no more into HR department to put it in simpler terms “it is right at the top” By teaching corporate governance and corporate social responsibility the view point changes from “profit maximization to “maximizing the wealth of the current shareholders” and this in turn helps government in developing the economy and eradicating poverty as private organization chip in to help government sectors in areas like Business friendliness where India lacks and it also helps the pillar of Institution to remain stable and strong.
Pillars like Innovation and Business sophistication can be taken care by HR function where Workshops for creativity can be made compulsory and the concept of “Individualism” can be spread between employees to think independently. Creative thinking in workplace should be instantly rewarded so that the Economy of India can be groomed to convert potential into feasibility.

Population explosion can be controlled in a different way as government instead of shouting at public to follow “One child concept” it can give loan sanctions and subsidiaries to families of farmers who follow the rule of “one child concept” and by this other families can be encouraged and campaigns can be done by carrying projectors to rural villages to explain the effects of population explosion
“Knowledge Management “and concept of sharing knowledge can be helpful to India. By Introducing KM in appraisals employees would be motivated to do knowledge sharing. Mediocre pillars in India such as “Higher education and training can be developed by breaking the rules of old traditional system exercising autonomy and introducing E- learning in schools. Critical Pillars like Infrastructure, macro economy and health and primary education is directly influenced by poverty and unemployment which should be solved by joint combination of government working with private sector by inculcating corporate social responsibility in mind of people.

Learning : The words like “Knowledge management”, “Privatization” “Corporate Governance” and Corporate social responsibility “E- learning “ comes to my mind which would be “Power words” that would drive the future of India and would strongly support all pillars of competitiveness.

The Butterfly Effect

vijay raghav

check in for more details : http://a.vijayragav.googlepages.com/

" Out " of the ordinary

hai guys... ...It's HR........the buzz in HR is " CSR" - corporate social responsibility.......and it is turning out to be pretty important and if You guys think..... CSR funda belongs to Human Resource Department ...hmm.... precisely not!!!! it is right at top in every aspect !!!!!

Corporates today look at CSR as a service offering that supports "business strategy " and they directly add value to the nation . corporate social responsibility can be taught in a big way .......and we can encourage corporate sectors to chip in and help government in building infrastructure facilities( in which india needs to improve)............ Encourage corporate sector by conducting several seminars on CSR and then making them understand that they should be socially responsible ...... help government with the "funding" to improve infrastructure facilities and this would also help government to focus on new projects. CSR should be made as a part of corporate strategy right at the top

Learining: CSR never belongs to HR anymore.... and it is critical beacuse it makes the firm socially responsible and this would help the government in improving infrastructure facilities.... as private firms would shift their focus from "profit maximisation " to wealth maximisation of its shareholders .... Help India to be " globally competitive "

'The Butterfly Effect '

vijay raghav

Having a " Long Neck " to Stand tall !!!!!!

hai Guys ..... If you think this would be the successful strategy to get your brandwagon moving ....hmm ...then you are wrong .....

Today Branding is done in a Sensible way ...The word sensible means a lot .... yup branding through "Senses " !!!!!!!!!!! Listen to what lindstrom ( MG- marketing guru) has to say about branding through senses " “What companies should do is develop a philosophy so smart, they don’t need a logo. All the signals are so coherent and in line with the brand, that even without a logo, I know who’s behind it "

" Companies that go in for rebranding exercises, tweaking logos and corporate colours are wasting their money,"

The above statements adds meaning when you look at some of the instances
Senses such as "touch " " smell " " sound " play an important role in brand building
Branding through Sound - Nokia does not have a brand symbol but it spreads it's identity through sound ....yup its nothing but the ' Nokia tone ' which rings all over the world ...and it became popular without any expenses

McDonald’s, for instance, is as easily identified by its mascot’s red hair and shoes, and stores with a white and yellow pattern as it is by the golden arches.

Apple Ipod is another good example of branding through senses ...there is no logo on the i-pod Yet it’s instantly recognisable due to the shape, navigation and tactile sensation.

Learning : Branding through "senses " is a "sense"ible way and companies who go about " tweaking logos " and "corporate colours" by wasting millions of money are indeed Lacking common" sense" hehehehehhe

"The Butterfly Effect "
vijay raghav
